My husband and I decided to take an early anniversary trip for 4 days and 3 nights from August 21st-24th. After reviewing numerous hotels on TripAdvisor, we decided to stay at the San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel since almost all of the reviews I read were positive.
As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted warmly by the concierge - I think his name is Andy but I'm not sure. Since our taxi driver was rude, it was nice to come into contact with a friendly person!
At the front desk, we were greeted very nicely by Juan. Not only did he upgrade our room to a partial ocean view, he also gave us helpful information on how to catch the bus to Old San Juan and the locations of the stores in the vicinity.
Once we arrived at the room, we were really impressed! We had enough towels and washcloths (which is a plus) and the blue lighting was great!
We decided to venture outside of the hotel and we took Juan's advice on catching the bus to Old San Juan. While awaiting for the bus, we came in contact with a very friendly lady named Maritza - also known as Panchita (I found this out later). Once we started chatting on the bus and I told her where we were staying, she told us that she was an employee at the hotel!! I decided to ask her if she could recommend a restaurant in Old San Juan and not only did she recommend Raices, she also walked us to the restaurant once we got off the bus. Maritza is one of the nicest people I've ever met and she's definitely beautiful on the inside and outside with the best personality! I also feel it would benefit your hotel to have her in a position where she is interacting the guests.
We did eat at Zest restaurant at the hotel and our waitress was Shalom. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the cuisines. We enjoyed her as our waitress.
We also came in contact with Lola at the concierge desk and she was very helpful as well!!
I consider this hotel more for couples than families. Everyone was very friendly, even the other guests! We met some good people that we are keeping in contact with!!
Because of the rain, we were only able to make it to the beach for about 10 minutes and we were not able to utilize the rooftop pool. You did not have to pay extra for the umbrellas and the chairs on the beach which was a plus. Although it pretty much rained our entire trip, we still had a great time and we will be back!!!
Pros - Location, beach, friendly staff, rooftop pool, blue lighting, robes, in-room safe, comfortable mattress.
Cons - Water pressure in shower, room could use a good dusting, air conditioner was a little noisy.
There wasn't anything to make me rate my stay less than excellent!

My wife and I had a WONDERFUL time here. The service we received all the way through was top notch. Great food down stairs and upstairs. Carla at the front desk was a big help as were Michael and Jacqueline at Zest for giving us great advice on fun things to do in the city and all around the island. This is a must stay place, worth every pretty penny you will spend!

We had a really great stay here in an ocean front suite at the WBC hotel. Location is right on the beach where they had friendly service, offering free umbrellas and chairs as well as food/drink service. All the staff were very friendly and remembered us from meals, beach, trips, etc. Concierge was helpful in planning our day trips to El Yunque, San Juan and Fajardo, helping us with car rental suggestions and food suggestions. Restaurant was good and we had dinner there, with good food for a good value. Loved the location as well as it's very very close to the airport, close to the highway so easy to get around the island as a base and close to SJ and many other food and attractions. Would definitely recommend - very hip and trendy, yet cozy and comfortable. Hard to do that well.
